Surrounded by handcrafted goods from WV creatives, young artists learned about watercolor painting and abstract art during the July 11 Summer Session. I set up watercolor materials and canvases on the floor -- borrowing the fun tie dyed blankets from Casey, founder and curator of Babe & Honey.
While painting on the floor, we discussed abstract artists from history and the present that also work on the floor. Color Field painter, Helen Frankenthaler, served as inspiration for our lesson. Her soak and stain technique applied to our watercolor pieces with great success!
I'm so impressed with the unique results of each finished painting! The students used color, brushstrokes, and techniques to create their own expression and vision through their watercolor paintings!
